Thankful Living vs Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite Holidays

For one reason because turkey and ham are the best things invested since sliced bread. Call me crazy, but another reason is because of the leftovers for the next two weeks (I know I'm not the only one). Another reason is that turkey naps are real. . . and should be taken seriously.

but on a serious note. . . there are two main reasons why I love Thanksgiving. One is the community that it brings. God created us for community. To lean on a brother or sister. To love other people. To serve and to be served. There is such a beauty that comes with Thanksgiving that brings those who are far close, and those who are close even closer. The other main reason is the remembrance of all the Lord has done in our lives. He is a God that has been working, is working, and always working for and in us for His purpose.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.

I love Thanksgiving and want to encourage everyone to take special time this Thanksgiving with the Lord, thanking Him for all He has done. All the works. All the good.

Psalm 95: 1-5

Come, let us sing to the Lord!

Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come to him with thanksgiving.

Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

For the Lord is a great God,

a great King above all gods.

He holds in his hands the depths of the earth

and the mightiest mountains.

The sea belongs to him, for he made it.

His hands formed the dry land, too.

Come, let us worship and bow down.

Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,

for he is our God.

We are the people he watches over,

the flock under his care.

No matter how much I enjoy Thanksgiving. I know the day comes so quickly and goes that much faster. So. . .

I want to choose thankful living, not living for Thanksgiving

Growing deeper in my relationship with the Lord, I catch myself thanking more instead of asking more. There is so much beauty when we open our hearts and arms to the Lord. We start seeing beauty in everything we look at, we see the good more than the bad. We see the positive more than the negative. We see more light versus darkness. We see life as a day-by-day instead of the normal routine. I often find myself overwhelmed by His beauty. Overwhelmed by His presence in all the works. Overwhelmed by how things always work out for His good.

I want that so much for you friends.

I want you to be completely overwhelmed by His goodness.

But. . . too see His goodness, the light, or the beauty. We have to be thankful for the now. We have the find the content in the now. We have to accept and embrace the now. We have to live for the now, choosing to be thankful each day.

We have to live a thankful life each and every day, not just remembering to be thankful on Thanksgiving.

Yes. Thankful. Every day even if it's in the storm or mess.

I know how hard that is, trust me.

But. . . living thankful in the now, will change your life.

You will begin seeing the beauty, light, Joy, and start living a true and purposeful life.

That is a promise.

This week I pray that we take special time with the Lord thanking Him for all of His goodness. Thanking Him for the good times, and even more for the hard times. Thanking Him for how much He loves us and How non-stop hard He has worked for us. I pray this week we don't only embrace Thanksgiving as a time to be thankful, but we take it into our daily life. Thanking Him for all the big things along with the tiny ones. I pray this week we find ourselves thanking more than asking.

Living a thankful life each and every day, not just remembering to be thankful on Thanksgiving.
