Great Stories Need Great Attention

We all love a great story... a story that inspires us, moves us in a new direction or perspective. We love stories that change our lives. But... so many times we are quick to hear these incredible stories and slow to share our own.

Jesus tells us about a story of a man who was demon-possessed. This man was naked and homeless living in a cemetery. The demons recognized Jesus and begged Jesus to enter into a herd of pigs nearby so they wouldn't go to the bottomless pit (a place of forever confinement for satan and his demons), so Jesus said so be it. Immediately the demons came out of the man and into the herd of pigs and the pigs plunged into the nearby lake and drowned.

The man was healed

After, all the witnesses were astounded and fled into the city spreading the news.

Everyone in the city became scared and begged Jesus to leave them alone as fear came over them.

So, Jesus got on the boat and left...

The healed man begged Jesus to go with him too in fear of what would happen if he stayed.

Jesus responds "No, go back to your family and tell them all the wonderful things God has done for you". (Luke 8:39)

So he did.

He went all through the city telling about the great things Jesus has done for him

I desire all of us to share our great story/stories. Just as Jesus commanded the man.. he also commands us to go and share the wonderful things God has done in our lives. Our stories are not only to bring us healing... but also healing to others as God uses our story to share his Gospel. Our stories bring hope to the brokenhearted, comfort to the wounded souls, and courage to the timid.
